Red Velvet is making their highly anticipated comeback with the title track “Surfin’ Boy.”
Red Velvet’s summer mini-album, “Velvet Summer,” will be released on August 3 at 6:00 PM KST. Expectations are high as the album features a total of five tracks, including the title song “Surfin’ Boy,” which highlights Red Velvet’s soft yet mature charm.

Anticipation is building even further since this marks their first new album release as a full group in approximately two years and two months, following “Cosmic” in June 2024. Red Velvet has maintained a legendary streak of summer hits with tracks like “Red Flavor,” “Power Up,” “Umpah Umpah,” and “Queendom.” Once again, the group is ready to showcase their mature “Summer Queen” charm through “Surfin’ Boy.”

This track holds special significance as member Joy personally wrote the lyrics alone. Reports reveal that Joy expressed a heartwarming message about reminiscing over the hottest summer spent with loved ones while creating yet another unforgettable memory.

SM Entertainment explained, “‘Surfin’ Boy’ is a dance track that fuses smooth bossa nova guitar, a relaxed reggae rhythm, and house beats. Its refreshing sound paired with cool, delicate vocals is particularly captivating,” urging fans to look forward to the release.
The teaser images capture the members spending a peaceful summer day engaging in various activities against the backdrop of a crystal-clear ocean. Known as the undisputed “Summer Queens,” they are set to heighten fan expectations once more with a song perfectly tailored for hot summer days.
Previously released concept photos and teaser videos have already enchanted fans with their vibrant yet soothing colors. One teaser image features a woman reminiscent of a mermaid exuding a refreshing aura as she gazes deeply into the distance. Below her, a surfer riding a crisp wave is shown, raising curiosity about the title track “Surfin’ Boy.”
Prior to the album release, Red Velvet will connect with fans at the “2026 Red Velvet Fancon <A & Day Red Velvet in>,” held at Korea University’s Hwajung Gymnasium on August 1 and 2. All seats were completely sold out during the fan club presale.
August 1, the opening day of the concert, marks the 12th anniversary of Red Velvet’s debut. As this is their first time standing in front of fans as a full group after a long wait, expectations are sky-high that the members will celebrate their 12th anniversary in a deeply meaningful and emotional way alongside both domestic and international fans.
The venue will host high-quality performances demonstrating Red Velvet’s broad musical spectrum and unwavering live vocal abilities. Additionally, various interactive segments have been prepared to allow the members and fans to connect even more closely, promising an unforgettable summer memory.

Furthermore, Red Velvet will release their exclusive reality show, “Level Up Project Season 6,” alongside their full-group comeback.
“Level Up Project” is Red Velvet’s signature variety show that originally launched in 2017. It returns about four years after “Level Up Project Season 5,” which aired in 2022.
SM Entertainment stated, “The concept revolves around Red Velvet celebrating their 12th debut anniversary by taking on various team-building missions while enjoying a special day-long vacation.”
“Level Up Project Season 6,” which consists of three episodes in total, will premiere on August 14 and air every Friday at 8:00 PM KST on Mnet and Wavve. Each episode will also be available on Red Velvet’s official YouTube channel one week after its initial release.
