The wife (referred to as Ms. A) of the late former professional footballer Kang Ji Yong—who previously appeared on the reality show Divorce Camp—has shared a cryptic update on social media following her husband’s passing.
On October 21, Ms. A posted, “The problem lies with the person who made a promise they couldn’t keep in the first place. You lied using that promise as an excuse, so why do you make the person who trusted you seem so worthless?” She added, “Only say things you can take responsibility for. Who is the one truly pushing things to the brink? I have never said anything untrue, and I have never lied. I am not afraid.”

She concluded, “I hope you feel ashamed wherever and whenever you are for the rest of your lives.”
Earlier, Ms. A shared screenshots of text messages she received along with the caption: “Haha, how funny. Did you think I wouldn’t know? Don’t hide, don’t run away, and don’t avoid this—neither I nor any of you.” The direct messages Ms. A received contained content presumed to have been sent by the late Kang Ji Yong’s side of the family, causing a stir among readers.
Previously, Kang Ji Yong and Ms. A appeared on JTBC’s reality show Divorce Camp across three episodes from February 27 to March 20, 2025. At the time, the couple confessed to experiencing severe marital conflict stemming from financial issues involving his side of the family, and they received counseling on the program.
However, Kang Ji Yong unexpectedly passed away on April 22, 2025, at the age of 35, sending shockwaves to the public.

During their appearance on the show, the couple faced severe tension over money problems. The late Kang Ji Yong also revealed a painful family history: after his elder brother passed away, he had stood as a guarantor for his brother’s business. He confessed, “Loan sharks started calling, and a storm hit after my brother’s funeral. From that moment on, our family completely fell apart.”
Although the couple showed a strong desire to repair their relationship through the program, the tragic news arrived just two months after the broadcast, leaving viewers in sorrow. Following his passing, the production team of Divorce Camp removed all video-on-demand (VOD) episodes featuring the late footballer.
At the time, Professor Lee Ho-sun of Soongsil Cyber University, who served as a counselor on Divorce Camp, paid tribute to him, saying, “I honor the memory of someone who lived passionately, fiercely, and with a good heart before leaving us.”
MC Seo Jang-hoon also reportedly sent a condolence wreath to Kang Ji Yong’s funeral parlor to express his grief.
Following Kang Ji Yong’s death, reckless malicious rumors began targeting his surviving family members. In response, Ms. A pleaded at the time, “Please refrain from making groundless speculation about our family of three. My husband and I truly cherished and loved our baby, and we still love and treasure our child now. I hope our child grows up without being hurt by any of this.”
Meanwhile, the late Kang Ji Yong entered the professional league after being selected as the 5th pick by Pohang Steelers in the 2009 K League Draft. He went on to play for Busan IPark, Bucheon FC 1995, Gangwon FC, and Incheon United FC before retiring after the 2022 season.
