Actor Lee Jong Suk has officially declined the lead role in the highly anticipated drama series Iseop’s Romance.
On September 3, Lee Jong Suk’s agency, ACE FACTORY, released an official statement to the media stating, “Actor Lee Jong Suk had been in long-term discussions since the planning and development stages and was preparing to star in Iseop’s Romance. However, due to adjustments in the production and filming schedules from the original plan, it became difficult to coordinate with his upcoming work schedule.”
The agency added, “After thorough discussions with the production team, a mutual agreement was reached that he would not be participating in this project.”
They concluded by saying, “Since this is a project we prepared for a long time with great affection, we will continue to do our best to support Iseop’s Romance so it can be completed as a great production.”
Iseop’s Romance is a chaotic office romance drama that tells the love story between Tae I-seop, a man who wants to do nothing, and Kang Min-kyung, a woman who must accomplish everything. Lee Jong Suk was set to play Tae I-seop, a third-generation chaebol heir who is perfect in every way but completely clumsy and inexperienced when it comes to love. Meanwhile, Choi Yoon-ji will play the female lead, Kang Min-kyung, a flawless woman known as the “secret weapon of TK Group.”
Lee Jong Suk was originally cast as Tae I-seop, which would have marked his return to a full-fledged romantic comedy drama series after seven years since Romance Is a Bonus Book. Following his departure, attention is now focused on which actor will take over the role.
The female lead role has been confirmed for rising actress Choi Yoon-ji, who previously appeared in Resident Playbook, Love Take Two, and The WONDERfools. Iseop’s Romance is scheduled to begin filming in the second half of this year, aiming for release next year.
