On August 4, Yuqi of the girl group i-dle shared behind-the-scenes photos from the major American music festival Lollapalooza on her social media, captioned “First lolla.”
In the photos, Yuqi wore a black halter-top bustier paired with vintage denim shorts. The lace top, intricately embellished with beads, exposed her waistline.
She completed the look with a short bob haircut and shimmering glitter across the bridge of her nose. However, even before her vibrant festival style, what drew the most attention was her slender shoulders, thin arms, and trim waist.
Yuqi posed from various angles—both frontally and from the side—to highlight her outfit. As her long legs were exposed beneath the short shorts, several media outlets immediately labeled her body shape as “extremely thin” (bbyeo-malla).
Yuqi’s group, i-dle, performed on the T-Mobile Stage at Lollapalooza in Grant Park, Chicago, on July 31. Their set ran for an hour, from 2:40 PM to 3:40 PM.
This phenomenon is not limited to Yuqi. Recently, female celebrities who shared summer stage or vacation photos have repeatedly been grouped under the same label.
Following Red Velvet’s Wendy, aespa’s Giselle has also been consistently described with the term “extremely thin.”
Meanwhile, actress Kim Min-ha directly explained the reason behind her own weight loss. She revealed that she lost 17 kg over approximately two years to prepare for her next acting role.
As the season of exposed outfits returns, stars’ bodies are once again on trial. With Yuqi now labeled as “extremely thin,” the entertainment industry’s summer appears to react more sensitively to physical silhouettes than to the music itself.
