IVE member Jang Wonyoung has once again found herself at the center of an engineered “attitude controversy,” this time simply for crossing her arms at an amusement park.
The issue stems from a video capturing a collaborative event between IVE and the theme park Everland on July 1. In the clip, the members are seen touring the venue while listening to an explanation from a staff member. Jang Wonyoung is briefly captured listening with her arms folded.
Shortly after the video spread, a few online posts began accusing her of being rude, with some netizens claiming, “She crossed her arms while someone was speaking to her,” and questioning her professionalism.
However, the vast majority of onlookers and fans quickly shut down the criticism, pointing out how ridiculous it is to police a person’s basic posture. Supporters jumped to her defense, commenting, “Are they really trying to make an issue out of her crossing her arms?” “Why on earth are they constantly targeting Jang Wonyoung?” “This is the absolute definition of a forced controversy,” and “It is incredibly exhausting to watch people turn a normal posture into drama.”
This is not the first time Jang Wonyoung has faced hyper-scrutiny over minor actions. She previously dealt with a brief uproar regarding whether she should have removed her hat and mask during a security screening at Gimpo Airport. While some online detractors tried to paint it as celebrity preferential treatment, the Korea Airports Corporation quickly clarified the situation, confirming that her identity verification was conducted strictly according to standard procedures with zero special treatment.
Showing her trademark resilience, when Jang Wonyoung departed through Gimpo International Airport last month, she made a point of walking through without a hat or mask—the only member to do so. Onlookers praised her confident, face-baring appearance as a direct and graceful “frontal assault” against her groundless critics.
