IVE member Jang Wonyoung has once again become the center of concern among fans after reportedly facing a dangerous situation during a recent schedule in China.
Jang Wonyoung Followed by Sasaeng Fans in China
Reports of Jang Wonyoung being stalked by obsessive fans during her activities in China have quickly become a major topic online. The controversy began after a short video circulated widely across social media platforms, showing footage taken around the idol’s vehicle.

According to fans, while Jang Wonyoung was spending time privately inside the car, a sasaeng fan deliberately approached from behind and pressed a phone against the vehicle’s window to film her. The individual allegedly even pointed the camera directly toward the screen of her phone.
After noticing the unusual behavior, Jang Wonyoung reportedly responded by turning on her front-facing camera and recording the individual in return. Fans believe she did so to warn the person and signal that the harassment needed to stop.

Another video shared by fans appeared to show multiple vehicles continuously following and chasing the transportation used by Jang Wonyoung and her fellow IVE members throughout their schedule in China.
As soon as the photos and videos spread online, a wave of anger erupted among fans. Many expressed outrage that the idol’s basic right to privacy was being violated even while she was inside a closed vehicle.
Across online communities and social media platforms, netizens strongly condemned the actions of the sasaeng fans involved. At the same time, many called on Starship Entertainment to strengthen security measures and pursue legal action to better protect the artist’s safety.

Jang Wonyoung later addressed the situation herself through a fan communication platform. The singer openly shared how unsettling it felt to have strangers suddenly approach her and point cameras or phones directly at her face during personal moments. She also expressed her hope that people would treat her with greater respect and courtesy.
Notably, this is not the first time the IVE member has faced such issues. In August 2024, she delivered a similar message urging fans to maintain appropriate boundaries and to meet artists through official events such as concerts rather than through invasive behavior.
The Price of Jang Wonyoung’s Massive Popularity
Jang Wonyoung is currently one of the most influential female idols of the fourth generation of K-pop. Her immense popularity has helped IVE achieve major success through hit songs such as “Eleven,” “Love Dive,” and “After LIKE.”
Beyond her music career, she serves as an ambassador for numerous luxury fashion and beauty brands and consistently ranks among the most recognizable celebrities in South Korea. Jang Wonyoung regularly tops brand reputation rankings and media influence charts, further cementing her status as one of the industry’s leading stars.

Her enormous popularity has earned her a massive fanbase not only in South Korea but around the world. However, that same level of fame has also made her a frequent target of extreme stalking behavior by sasaeng fans, as well as unjust criticism and negative stereotypes spread by certain online communities.
Recently, Jang Wonyoung and her agency have taken aggressive legal action to protect her reputation. Starship Entertainment officially filed lawsuits against anonymous websites and social media accounts that allegedly spread malicious comments, defamatory content, and false rumors about the singer.

The agency’s decision to pursue legal measures regardless of location received widespread support from the public and was viewed as a necessary step following previous successful civil and criminal cases against malicious online content creators.
Jang Wonyoung’s extraordinary fame has undoubtedly brought her immense success, recognition, and opportunities. At the same time, it has also exposed her to the darker side of life, including relentless invasions of privacy and the exhausting challenges posed by obsessive fans.
