Recently, Seoul’s Jongno Police Station announced that they had arrested a man in his 40s on charges of assault and injury during an attempted robbery. The suspect allegedly broke into the home of actress Kim Gyu Ri, best known for the drama Glass Slippers, with the intention of stealing valuables.

According to reports, the man entered the actress’s home at around 9 p.m. on May 20 and demanded money while violently assaulting the people inside. At the time, Kim Gyu Ri was at home with another woman. Taking advantage of a moment when the intruder was distracted, the two women managed to escape and run outside for help.

CCTV footage showed that Kim Gyu Ri and the other woman did not even have time to put on shoes. They reportedly ran barefoot through the rain while desperately searching for help from passing vehicles. One witness recalled, “They ran toward me and asked me to call the police, so I immediately reported it.”

The incident left both the actress and the other woman injured, suffering fractures and bruises. After receiving reports from nearby citizens, police quickly launched an investigation. Approximately three hours later, the suspect was arrested in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo District, Seoul. Authorities are currently investigating whether the crime was premeditated and are also considering requesting a detention warrant for the suspect.

The case has caused major concern online, especially since another actress was targeted in a similar incident not long ago. In November last year, Nana, who is often referred to as one of the world’s most beautiful faces, was also reportedly injured during a burglary incident.

Netizens expressed worry for Kim Gyu Ri, leaving comments such as, “Wait, what is happening? Another robbery?”, “That’s terrifying… imagine how shocked she must have been,”, “Why are there so many crazy people these days?”, and “The suspect deserves severe punishment.”

Born in 1979, Kim Gyu Ri debuted as a model at the age of 18. She originally promoted under her real name, Kim Min Sun, before transitioning into acting in 1998 with her first drama role.

She rose to widespread fame through her villain role in the hit drama Glass Slippers, which became a major sensation at the time. The actress later gained further attention through the drama Loveholic alongside Kangta of H.O.T.. In 2009, she officially changed her stage name to Kim Gyu Ri.
