Person “A,” who raised infidelity allegations against rapper Yang Hong Won, has revealed that they actually do not know whether an affair took place. “A” also admitted to lying during the exposure process and offered an apology to Yang Hong Won and his family.
On October 29, Grey News released an interview video featuring “A”—the individual who first raised the affair allegations against Yang Hong Won—on YouTube. Revealing their face and voice, “A” recounted the circumstances leading up to the exposure and the situation at the time. “A” said they have been childhood friends with Yang Hong Won and recently asked to borrow 300,000 KRW (approx. $220 USD) because they urgently needed cash. “A” claimed that while Yang Hong Won initially agreed to lend the money, conflict erupted after “A” was contacted by the legal representative of Yang Hong Won’s agency.
Explaining the motive behind the exposure, “A” said their feelings were hurt because the lawyer made disparaging remarks, adding, “I felt like, forget the money—since you provoked me like that, I’ll show you what I can do.” “A” noted that even if they had borrowed the money, they still would have exposed him after hearing the lawyer’s remarks.
“A” also addressed the situation at the time the infidelity allegations arose. “A” explained that they went to their home with women met at a club for a drinking session, where Yang Hong Won joined later. During this time, “A” claims to have seen Yang Hong Won enter a motel across the street with one of the women, as their house faced the motel and allowed them to see the two through a window. However, “A” denied encouraging the two to go to the motel, asserting they only casually said, “Why don’t you two go outside and eat ice cream or something?”
When asked about whether an actual affair occurred, “A” admitted, “Honestly, I don’t really know if it was an affair.” While “A” saw the two enter the motel, they did not know what happened inside the room. “A” added that the woman who accompanied Yang Hong Won told them that she simply slept on the floor.
“A” also confessed to fabricating details during the initial exposure. “A” stated, “Out of everything I said, there was only one lie,” revealing that a previous post claiming they received money from Yang Hong Won’s agency was false. “A” explained that the post was created solely to draw public attention.
“A” expressed remorse over the scandal escalating beyond expectations. When asked why they published the allegations despite knowing Yang Hong Won was married, “A” explained that they had few followers and did not expect the post to spread widely. Regarding whether they considered the harm to Yang Hong Won’s family, “A” admitted, “I thought, ‘Who’s going to see this? Just my acquaintances will see it and that’s it.’ My thinking was far too shortsighted.” “A” then apologized directly to Yang Hong Won, his wife Won Hyun Joo, and their daughter.
Repeatedly apologizing, “A” expressed, “I truly never imagined things would blow up like this. I am so sorry.” Addressing the severe backlash received following the exposure, “A” shared, “I feel like I’ve eaten all the criticism I’ll ever get in my lifetime.” However, when asked toward the end of the interview if Yang Hong Won should be grateful for anything, “A” remarked, “The fact that his song surged back up the charts.”
The outlet Gray News, which conducted the interview, disclosed that “A” requested an appearance fee of 300,000 KRW alongside 50,000 KRW in transportation expenses, paying a total of 350,000 KRW (approx. $255 USD) after the session. On October 23, “A” initially raised affair allegations via social media, claiming Yang Hong Won visited a motel with another woman shortly after his wedding. In response, Yang Hong Won’s agency, AP Alchemy, acknowledged the visit to the motel but strongly denied any improper relationship, launching legal action while noting that some materials shared by “A” were maliciously edited.
Yang Hong Won held a wedding ceremony on October 18 with his longtime partner, Won Hyun Joo. The couple has one daughter together.
