Actress Kim Jaekyung, a former member of the girl group Rainbow, is delivering a standout performance in Kidnap Game.
In Channel A’s Tuesday drama Kidnap Game, Kim Jaekyung plays the role of Nam A Yun, the mother of kidnapped daughter Han Ri An (played by Choi So Yool) and wife of Han Ki-joo (played by Lee Joon Gi).
Kidnap Game is a thriller about an unprecedented death game of simultaneous kidnappings occurring across seven Asian cities. It is a major joint Asian production involving production companies from South Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong.
The character portrayed by Kim Jaekyung, A Yun, is the president of a famous beauty brand who married genius surgeon Han Ki-joo and gave birth to Li-an, living an enviable life. However, her world is completely upended when her visually impaired daughter is suddenly kidnapped and her husband is forced to participate in a “kidnap game” with their daughter’s life on the line.
Kim Jaekyung poignantly expresses A Yun’s despair over losing her child, along with her resentment toward her husband, who not only failed her daughter’s surgery but also lost sight of her when she was taken. Upon learning that her husband’s assigned game mission is “murder,” she demonstrates resolute determination by offering her own life instead. Kim Jaekyung originally debuted as a member of the girl group Rainbow in 2009 before embarking on her acting career with the 2012 JTBC drama Monster.
