The tvN 20th-anniversary weekend drama 100 Days of Deception is a massive hit. Starring Kim Yoo Jung and Park Jinyoung, the show is drawing intense global interest after just two episodes.

According to FlixPatrol, the series surged to No. 5 on Netflix’s global TV chart on October 13. That impressive rank came just three days after its premiere. Viewers across social media and online forums have praised the show enthusiastically. Fans noted the high production value feels just like a feature film. Others praised the crisp pacing and the cast’s impressive foreign language skills.
Episode 1 kicked off at Gyeongseong Station, introducing the main characters. We meet Lee Ga-gyeong (Kim Yoo Jung), Hideo Sato / Kim Tae-woong (Park Jinyoung), and Yoo So-ran (Kim Hyun-joo). The cast also includes Philip Yoo (Lee Moo-saeng) and Shinichi Sato (Jin Seon-kyu). The plot weaves their contrasting goals into a thrilling web of deception, revenge, and ambition. Blending humor, action, and suspense, the drama’s rich visuals and musical score evoke a powerful period atmosphere.

A major early twist reveals that interpreter Suzuki (Kim Do-hyun) is actually a secret agent. Working for the Liberation League, his key line—“Spring will soon arrive in Korea as well”—has deeply resonated with viewers. Moving forward, the series will dive directly into the group’s high-stakes covert operations.

Director Yoo In-shik described the series during the pre-release press conference. He called it a tense espionage story and a heartbreaking romance. Above all, it honors the brave individuals who sacrificed everything for national independence.

The lead actors have earned widespread acclaim for their performances. Kim Yoo Jung plays Lee Ga-gyeong, Gyeongseong’s most skilled pickpocket. She initially cares little about politics and only wants to save money for America. Her eventual transformation into a full-fledged spy forms a compelling narrative arc.

Park Jinyoung plays Hideo Sato (Kim Tae-woong), the adopted Korean son of the Civil Affairs Director. He portrays the character’s internal identity crisis with great nuance. He balances a deep longing for his father’s approval with resentment toward the past.

Kim Hyun-joo plays Yoo So-ran, a deadly sniper seeking revenge after 13 years. Lee Moo-saeng plays Philip Yoo, a Korean-American special correspondent. Jin Seon-kyu portrays Civil Affairs Director Shinichi Sato, delivering most of his lines in Japanese.

Special appearances have also generated strong buzz. Kam Woo-sung plays Yoo So-ran’s husband, Geum Seok-jung. Meanwhile, Choi Dae-hoon makes a memorable appearance as pawnshop owner Mr. Kim.

Episode 3 of 100 Days of Deception airs on October 17 at 9:10 PM KST. Global audiences can stream new episodes on Netflix.
