On August 17, Jennie officially apologized to BLACKPINK fans on Weverse. Her message followed growing criticism surrounding the group’s 10th-anniversary celebrations. She spoke out after completing her festival schedule, ending with Japan’s Summer Sonic. She followed Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa, who had already addressed the issue.

Jennie said she reflected deeply on the milestone. She felt sorry for failing to communicate properly with BLINKs. She wanted to finish her scheduled festivals first. This allowed her to speak with fans with a clearer heart.

“Hi, it’s Jennie.

I’ve been thinking a lot about our 10th anniversary and honestly, it made me really sad that I didn’t get the chance to properly talk to BLINKs and share how I was feeling. I wanted to wait until I finished my last festival that was already scheduled because I felt like I could come back and speak to you with a clearer heart.

These past 10 years have given me some of the most special moments of my life, all because of you. Your love has been with us through every step, helping us grow and allowing us to dream even bigger for the future.

Our 10th anniversary should have been a moment where we could just celebrate and be happy together, and I’m sorry that instead, some of you were left feeling disappointed. There’s really no excuse I can give for that. BLINKs have always been one of the biggest blessings and greatest loves in BLACKPINK’s life. I’m sorry I couldn’t show you a better side of myself in that moment, and more than anything, I just want you to know how thankful I am for everything you’ve given us over these 10 years.

I carry what we have together very close to my heart, always. I hope you know how much love and gratitude I have for all of you. Happy 10 years to us, and thank you for staying by our side and sharing all of it with us.

I won’t forget everything I’ve learned and felt along the way, and I’ll keep growing and doing my best to give back all the love you’ve given me.

I love you BLINK!”

She expressed gratitude for BLINKs’ decade-long love, calling fans the group’s greatest blessing. Jennie apologized for disappointing fans and promised to keep working hard.

The controversy began with BLACKPINK’s August 8 “Meet & Greet”. Fans criticized its limited scale. YG Entertainment announced the event just two days prior. Only 40 fans attended in person. Additionally, the Weverse livestream lasted only 10 minutes, while the offline event lasted 30 minutes. Fans also called the gifts underwhelming for a 10th anniversary.

Questions were also raised about using the National Museum of Korea as the venue. Reports state a complaint was filed with South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to investigate the approval process.

The backlash affected the fandom deeply. Some longtime BLACKPINK fansites closed, went private, or suspended activities.

Jisoo first addressed the issue on August 8. Rosé followed on August 11, and Lisa spoke on August 14. All three expressed regret over fans’ disappointment.

Now, all four members have addressed the controversy. Jennie’s message may ease fan frustration. However, rebuilding trust after this milestone will take time.

Jennie remains busy with solo music activities. She shared a separate message reflecting on her festival journey:

Thank you guys for all the love and energy you’ve shared with me at every festival over these past three months. It’s hard to put into words how much I’ve experienced, learned, and grown along the way.

Looking back, there were so many unexpected moments, so many highs and lows, and I’ve realized that’s just part of life. Not everything is going to be perfect, and maybe it’s not supposed to be. I’m learning to appreciate every part of the journey for what it was, even the harder moments, because they taught me so much and helped me grow. I hope we can look back on all of it with love and carry the good, the lessons, and the memories with us into whatever comes next.

And none of these moments would have been possible without the incredible people who brought every stage to life with me. To my crew, staff, band, dancers, directors, and everyone behind the scenes, thank you for your endless hard work, passion, and for giving your all to every single show. I’m so grateful to have shared this journey with all of you.

I’m leaving this chapter with so much love, gratitude, and inspiration, and so many memories I’ll keep close to my heart.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me.

Until the next
