The project features the versatile actress-singer Kim Se-jeong leading the charge, joined by rising stars Bae Hyun-sung and Jo Han-gyeol. Based on a popular webtoon, the series promises a premium storyline that guarantees non-stop entertainment.

On July 31, Studio Dragon revealed, “We are preparing to produce ‘High School Queen,’ which brings a fresh plot about a Joseon Queen delivering justice to 21st-century villains. It highlights an exciting collaboration among Kim Se-jeong, Bae Hyun-sung, and Jo Han-gyeol in a thrilling action-romance format.”

Adapted from the hit webtoon of the same name, High School Queen is an intense action-romance drama following Kim Cheong-ha, Joseon’s greatest swordmaster and queen. After waking up 400 years later in the body of Kim Da-jin—a high school girl suffering from school bullying—she uses her regal instincts and elite martial arts skills to teach the bullies a lesson. At the same time, she also pursues the dreams and romance she couldn’t fulfill in her past life.

Kim Se-jeong takes on the dual role of Kim Cheong-ha / Kim Da-jin. She shared her excitement, stating, “I feel like this character combines various aspects of all the roles I’ve played before. I’m preparing with a mix of excitement and pressure. Since this work features a rich narrative and thrilling action in every episode, I am practicing hard on both my acting and stunt sequences to deliver great entertainment to the viewers.”

Meanwhile, Jo Han-gyeol plays Lee Nyeong, the absolute monarch of Joseon. In addition, he portrays Lee Do-yun, a mysterious transfer student in the present day. He expressed, “I am deeply honored and thrilled to hear about the casting. I will prepare diligently to deliver a great performance for everyone.”
