K-pop group NewJeans has made a fresh start as a four-member unit. With Minji—whose return had previously been uncertain—rejoining her bandmates, NewJeans has now officially stood before fans as a four-member group.
At midnight on July 22, NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, released new group concept photos, individual teaser images, and teaser films titled “Summer of NewJeans” across their official website and social media channels.
Minji’s presence in the new content immediately drew significant public attention. While the returns of Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein were already confirmed following the departure of Danielle, Minji’s potential involvement had remained up in the air for quite some time.
ADOR surprised global fans by unexpectedly dropping the full line of concept photos and teaser videos featuring the finalized four-member lineup. Arriving on the exact day of NewJeans’ 4th debut anniversary, the release served as a special gift to fans.
With Minji’s return officially confirmed, excitement is building among fans for an imminent full-scale music comeback. Conversely, some fans expressed disappointment seeing the group move forward as four members without Danielle.
This release marks the first official content from NewJeans in roughly one year and four months, signaling their first official activity since performing at ComplexCon Hong Kong last March. As members gradually returned to ADOR following their period of independent activities, group operations are officially back on track.
Previously, in November 2024, NewJeans notified ADOR of their intent to terminate their exclusive contracts and began pursuing independent activities. However, after deciding not to appeal a lawsuit that confirmed the validity of their exclusive contracts, the members ultimately returned to ADOR.
During that transition, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein returned first. Minji later hinted at a potential return via a message to fans stating, “I hope a good opportunity comes to us again. Let’s meet again,” even while her future plans were still unconfirmed.
Danielle, however, was unable to rejoin the team. ADOR notified Danielle of her contract termination after determining she was responsible for triggering the dispute, and the agency is currently pursuing a lawsuit for damages amounting to 33.1 billion KRW.
