Star couple Lee Jong Suk and IU have officially broken up. After four years of dating publicly, the two have decided to part ways.
On July 10th, representatives for both Lee Jong Suk and IU confirmed the news to Dispatch, stating, “The two recently ended their relationship. They have decided to remain good senior and junior colleagues to one another.”
The pair first crossed paths in 2012 as co-MCs for SBS’s music program Inkigayo. They maintained a close friendship as industry colleagues for a decade before their relationship naturally developed into romance in late 2022.
Ultimately, their demanding professional lives led to the split. A close acquaintance of the former couple hinted, “With their packed individual schedules, they found less time to meet, which naturally caused them to drift apart.”
Moving forward, both stars remain focused on their thriving careers. Lee Jong Suk is currently gearing up for the release of the highly anticipated Disney+ original series The Remarried Empress. He has also been confirmed to star in Lee Seop’s Romance, a live-action adaptation of the popular Naver web novel.
Meanwhile, IU has wrapped up filming for the MBC drama The Grand Prince’s Wife and is fully channeling her energy into preparing her upcoming music album. She is also scheduled to hold a major concert this coming September at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium.
