Kim Ji Won, who plays the “operating room lunatic” Gye Su-jeong in Doctor X: Mafia in White, is taking action once again! This time, she directly confronts Na Dae-il, played by Jang Seung Jo. As his true nature is gradually exposed, the tense standoff between the two drives the plot to a peak.
In the previously aired Episode 4, Gye Su-jeong discovered that Na Dae-il had carved his own initials, “D.N,” onto a patient’s organ during surgery in the past—a bizarre and horrifying act that sent chills down viewers’ spines. Na Dae-il, who originally made his entrance with a gentle and warm image as a surgery professor, turned out to harbor a shockingly twisted side, delivering a major plot twist.

Ahead of Episode 5, the production team released new stills featuring Gye Su-jeong and Na Dae-il. One image captures a disturbing moment from Na Dae-il’s past as a military doctor, where he appears unnervingly immersed while performing a solo surgery. On the other side, Gye Su-jeong grabs his blood-stained hand with a cold, glare-filled gaze full of rage, creating a breathtaking, explosive tension. Viewers are eagerly anticipating how Gye Su-jeong will strike back against Na Dae-il, who puts personal desires above a patient’s life.

Interestingly, Jang Seung Jo also took to his personal Instagram on October 19 to share behind-the-scenes photos from the set, writing: “Once again… I’m sorry… and thank you all for watching.” He concluded with a message to fans: “Please look forward to Episode 5 as well~ I love you all!” Knowing full well how infuriating yet intriguing his character is, his playful “apology” brought smiles to viewers.
