On May 13, Korean media outlet Xportsnews reported that Lee Min Jung appeared on her personal YouTube channel and candidly shared details about her upcoming solo trip to Europe. During the video, the actress tried on several outfits with the help of veteran stylist Seo Soo Kyung while discussing fashion and travel plans.
However, one particular comment quickly became a hot topic online.
Lee Min Jung revealed that she owns a backless dress purchased during a trip to the United States two years ago but has barely worn it because her husband strongly opposed the outfit. She explained:
“My husband told me not to wear this dress, so I only wore it once. I honestly don’t understand why he dislikes backless outfits so much. I personally love them because they feel cool and comfortable.”
The revelation immediately sparked conversation among Korean netizens, especially given Lee Byung Hun’s highly publicized cheating scandal from 2014.
Lee Min Jung also shared that not everyone in the family supported her decision to travel alone to Europe. According to the actress, both her son and Lee Byung Hun strongly opposed the trip, while their young daughter was still too little to understand the situation.
The couple’s relationship has long fascinated the Korean public.
Lee Byung Hun and Lee Min Jung first met in 2006 while filming a commercial. At the time, Lee Byung Hun was already one of Korea’s biggest stars, while Lee Min Jung was still relatively unknown. After dating privately, the pair briefly separated due to busy schedules and career pressures before reconnecting years later and officially confirming their relationship in 2012.
They married in 2013 in a lavish wedding attended by top Korean celebrities and were widely viewed as one of Korea’s power couples.
But their marriage faced a massive crisis in 2014 when Lee Byung Hun became embroiled in an affair scandal involving GLAM member Dahee and model Lee Ji Yeon. During the controversy, the actor was accused of inappropriate relationships while Lee Min Jung was pregnant with their first child. The situation escalated further when Dahee and Lee Ji Yeon allegedly attempted to blackmail the actor using secretly recorded videos.
At the height of the scandal, Lee Min Jung reportedly left their home and returned to her parents’ house. Lee Byung Hun later issued multiple public apologies, admitting responsibility for disappointing both his family and the public.
“As the head of my family and as a public figure, I sincerely apologize for causing disappointment. Everything started because of me, so I will accept all criticism alone,” the actor previously stated during a public appearance.
