Broadcaster Yoo Jae Suk delivered a candid, sharp-witted remark regarding actress Kang So Ra’s confession about suffering from “celebrity disease” (star syndrome), joking, “If that’s all it was, it wasn’t severe at all.”

Kang So Ra appeared as a guest on the October 21 broadcast of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block. During the episode, she confessed that because her period as an unknown actress was relatively short, “celebrity disease” hit her early in her career. “Even in the dead of summer, I would walk around wearing a mask and a hat,” she shared.
When Yoo Jae Suk asked, “Is wearing a mask and hat really considered celebrity disease?” Kang So Ra elaborated, “When fans asked for photos, depending on my face’s condition at the time, I’d willingly agree, but if my face was bloated, I’d avoid them. I don’t do that anymore.”

In response, Yoo Jae Suk remarked, “That’s not severe at all. People with serious cases are truly extreme. Once the popularity they eventually gained suddenly disappears, they quickly snap back to reality.” Kang So Ra nodded in agreement, adding, “Being a celebrity can disappear in an instant.”
Kang So Ra also reflected on entering the acting profession, revealing that she lost approximately 16 kg over a two-month summer break during her senior year of high school before enrolling in the Department of Theater and Film at Dongguk University. She explained that martial arts novels inspired her dream of becoming an actress, saying, “I wanted to personally step into that fictional world.”

Speaking about her breakout role in the hit drama Misaeng: Incomplete Life, Kang So Ra recalled having already read the entire original webtoon. “When I received the offer to appear, I didn’t hesitate for even ten seconds,” she shared. Addressing her praised Russian-language scenes in the drama, she modestly waved off compliments: “Everyone thinks I’m good at languages, but it’s not fluent conversation—I just caught the right nuances.” She added, “Reading comics and novels allows your imagination to become more concrete. I feel truly fortunate that my passion aligned with my profession.”
Kang So Ra first gained widespread recognition playing the role of Ha Choon-hwa in the 2011 hit movie Sunny, later building a solid career through works like Misaeng: Incomplete Life.
