Hwang Min Hyun is currently considering an offer to star in the upcoming drama Iseop’s Romance. He has been offered the role of Tae I-seop—a character originally slated for Lee Jong-suk before the actor stepped down due to adjustments in the production and filming schedule.
On September 15, 2026, Korean media outlet YTN reported that Hwang Min Hyun had been selected to play Tae I-seop, the male lead in Iseop’s Romance, and is preparing for the role.
However, the production company clarified the report, stating, “Nothing has been confirmed yet.” Meanwhile, Hwang Min Hyun’s agency, PLEDIS Entertainment, cautiously stated, “This is one of the projects he has received an offer for and is currently reviewing.”
Previously, Lee Jong-suk was cast as the male lead but ultimately stepped down from the series following revisions to the production and shooting schedules. Choi Yoon-ji, who was originally cast as the female lead, also decided to withdraw later on due to scheduling conflicts, leaving both lead roles vacant.
Based on a popular web novel of the same name, Iseop’s Romance tells the office romance story of Tae I-seop, a third-generation chaebol heir of TK Group who excels at everything except love, and Kang Min-kyung, an elite employee from his hiring class whose work performance outshines even his own.
If he accepts the offer, Hwang Min Hyun will play Tae I-seop, an elite young man who climbed the corporate ladder quickly as the youngest employee to earn consecutive top promotions. However, he faces unexpected emotional changes when Kang Min-kyung—the first woman to ever push him into “second place”—joins the company as his executive secretary.
Hwang Min Hyun has built his acting career through various series, including Live On, Alchemy of Souls, My Lovely Liar, and Study Group. Following his military discharge, he officially resumed his acting activities and confirmed his return to reprise his role in Study Group 2.
