On May 19, Kwon Mina posted a lengthy message on her Instagram account, beginning with the words, “Today marks the end of a long journey that lasted more than four years.”

Kwon Mina explained that when she first prepared for the trial, she had hoped the perpetrator could face severe punishment because the incident had occurred 14 years earlier at the time, and there was discussion that both rape and assault charges might still be recognized without falling under the statute of limitations.

However, she revealed that after the second trial ruling, only the rape charge was acknowledged while the assault charge was not accepted, meaning additional punishment could not be imposed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

Despite this, Kwon Mina expressed that the verdict still carried great meaning for her as a victim. She wrote, “For me, what mattered most was whether he would be found guilty or not guilty. Even if only one crime was recognized, that alone is meaningful to me. At least it was revealed that he is a bad person, and I’m trying to be satisfied with the current result.”

Kwon Mina also reflected on how differently society handles such issues today compared to 18 years ago. She stated, “Back then, because of the atmosphere of society, people felt forced to stay quiet and hide these things. But now things have changed a lot.” She encouraged other victims not to blame themselves or remain silent, adding that experiencing such violence is “nothing to be ashamed of.”

She also expressed gratitude toward the police officers and prosecutors who supported her throughout the legal process, saying she felt both thankful and sorry to those who carried the emotional burden alongside her for years.

She further revealed that she is currently preparing for another lawsuit connected to a separate case. At the same time, she admitted feeling exhausted and powerless because victims often have to fight relentlessly on their own to protect themselves and pursue justice.

Kwon Mina wrote, “Rather than becoming greedy about the outcome, I just hope that even part of what I said will be acknowledged and accepted.” She added that she now plans to focus on treatment and recovery, reassuring fans by saying, “I’m just a little tired right now, so please don’t worry too much.”

She concluded the post by saying, “It feels like I’ve finally completed one piece of homework, so I feel relieved now. I’ll continue solving the rest as well.”

Previously, Kwon Mina appeared on the YouTube channel “Jeomjeom TV” in 2023, where she first revealed that she had been sexually assaulted while in her first year of middle school. At the time, she shared that she had followed a friend to a gathering and suffered hours of violence and sexual assault. She described the experience as the biggest trauma of her life.

She also explained that she had been unable to report the incident at the time because she feared retaliation and had to carry the pain alone for many years. During past Instagram live broadcasts, she revisited the topic and described the trauma as “a wound that cannot easily disappear.”
